Raised in San Francisco, California, director Walter Talens graduated from San José State University with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film. Affected by the events of September 11th and the chain of events following the aftermath, he always wondered how that day would change the lives of everyone around the world.

Sand & Snow.
When the “War on Terror” began and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq continued, Walter expected a wave of refugees to enter the U.S.A. similar to previous wars. When that didn’t materialize, the director began to wonder what happened to all the Iraqi refugees. He was certain the average family wasn’t staying in Iraq. Where did they go? That’s when he discovered Sweden and the increasing number of refugees seeking asylum in this neutral nation.
